Conclusive Symposium
Friday March 18th 2005
Technopôle de Château Gombert
60 rue Frédéric Joliot Curie - Marseille 13ème

The management of wildland-urban interfaces is one of the key-points of wildland fire prevention policy in Mediterranean regions.
Foresters, fire fighters and agencies need methods and tools for assessing wildland fire risk for targets (people and structures), and for testing the preventive efficiency of wildland fuel reduction, on these interfaces.

For disseminating and valorising the achievements of FIRE STAR programme, the involved research and development teams organise the conclusive symposium of this programme on Friday March 18th from 09h00 to 18h00.

The objectives of this symposium is to permit these teams to present their work to the scientific community and, more particularly, towards the end-users, who can be interested by FIRE STAR system and catalogue:
-Public or private organisations managing natural and wildland areas, mainly wildland - urban interfaces
-Public or private organisations in charge of the wildland fire prevention, prediction and fighting, specifically on these interfaces
-Regional, departmental, or local territorial authorities concerned by the elaboration of wildland fire risk prevention plans
-Associations involved in the management and maintenance of the wildland - urban interfaces

The symposium is organised in five sessions
-Three workshops for describing the used approaches and the achievements
-One session dedicated to the use of the catalogue for one or two given ecosystem
-The last session will indicate how the FIRE STAR system will be implemented and how new studied cases will be included in the catalogue after the end of the programme
